DEVELOPMENT & CONSTRUCTION MANAGEMENT PLAN
Summer 2011 Update
Giant is moving forward with plans to redevelop Friendship Shopping
Center and filed plans for building permits the first week of August.
Once the DC Department of Consumer and Regulatory Affairs completes
its review and issues permits, the project will begin. We expect to
break ground some time after the first of the year.

- Will be available during business hours

- Emergency contact information will also be provided
Construction site management
- Fencing and barricades will screen and secure site
- Temporary storm water management systems will be put in place
- Nighttime security lighting will be provided on site
- Construction trailer will be located on site
- Rubbish and construction debris will be removed continuously
- Pest control program will be put in place
- Excavation and backfill trucks will be covered before exiting the site
- Portable latrines will be provided on site
- Construction workers will be prohibited from parking in residential neighborhoods
Work hours
- Normal work week will be Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.
- Saturday work will occur from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
- No construction (except emergency work) will take place on Sundays
- All construction truck circulation will occur only during work hours
- Good faith effort will be made to limit work that may disturb residents to weekdays
Contractors
- All contractors and subcontractors will be required to follow these policies
Truck Queuing and Routing
- Truck queuing will occur along Newark Street
- Construction related traffic will not travel south of the site on Idaho Avenue
- Trucks will use only major arterials
